In 1956, Webb Pierce recorded a song written by Mel entitled “I’m Tired”, and it launched Mel’s musical career. A member of the Grand Ole Opry, inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame, Mel was also awarded the National Medal of Art by President Obama this past February.
